PUZZLE NO. 142 : DUAL SUDOKU ( Outside Sudoku & 234 Outside Sudoku )



This is a dual sudoku. It can be solved individually, both as an Outside Sudoku as well as a 234 Outside Sudoku.

RULES FOR OUTSIDE SUDOKU : Place a digit from 1 to 9 in each empty cell so that each digit appears exactly once in each row, column and 3x3 box. Additionally, the digits outside the grid must appear in one of the first three cells seen from that edge of the grid.

RULES FOR 234 OUTSIDE SUDOKU : Place a digit from 1 to 9 in each empty cell so that each digit appears exactly once in each row, column and 3x3 box. Additionally, the digits outside the grid must appear in either the 2nd, 3rd or 4th cell seen from that edge of the grid.

PUZZLE NO. 141 : Alternating Stripes Sudoku



RULES : Classic sudoku rules apply. "Large" and "small" digits alternate along the grey stripes. A "large" digit is larger than its two neighbors on the stripe while a "small" digit is smaller. Whether the digits on both ends of the stripe are the smaller or larger ones is not specified. Digits may repeat on stripes.

RULES : Classic sudoku rules apply. Additionally, there are some thermometer shapes in the grid. The numbers are in increasing order from the bulb to the flat end on each thermometer. If a white circle is given between two adjacent cells , then the numbers in those cells will be consecutive. Not all white circles are given , which means adjacent cells without a white circle may or may not contain consecutive digits.

Circled 8s between two orthogonally ( horizontally or vertically ) adjacent cells imply that one of the four binary operations ( addtion , subtraction, multiplication or division ) on the marked cells result in an 8. If there is no circled 8 between two orthogonally adjacent cells, 8 cannot be produced by the two digits going through any of the four binary operations.
