PUZZLE NO. 274 : THERMO SUDOKU

 

RULES : Classic Sudoku rules apply. Additionally, there are some thermometer shapes in the grid. The numbers are in increasing order from the bulb to the flat end on each thermometer.

      There was one step required. If u would have got that, u wouldn't have taken this long

      Yes. That one step opens up the whole sudoku. Whoever gets that break will find it easy. Others will struggle

    7:55 on second try.
    On first try, I found that special step very soon but I failed to spot a naked single and I broke the puzzle after 25 minutes of painful and unnecessary bifurcation.

      It really is frustrating when a sudoku is broken. Its great you got that step fast.

    10:02. Found the trick within a few minutes--very cool!--but like Sudokanard I spent several minutes stuck until I found a naked single I'd overlooked. This was one of the most distinctive thermo sudokus I've solved--thank you!
